Summary
Canhoto has no account, no server of its own, and doesn't ask for any personal data. Your tickets stay on your device.
The app sends nothing to Folium Studios: no telemetry, no analytics, no ads. Its only contact with the internet is the movie search on TMDB, described below.
What stays on your device
In the app's local storage, which only the app can read:
- your stubs: the ticket's QR content, the movie, the showtime date and time, the cinema, the room and the seat
- movie posters, downloaded once and kept as files
- for transfers, your name as the sender and the companion's name, if you filled them in
- theme and language preferences
You can delete a stub at any time from the ticket screen. Uninstalling the app erases all of it.
Movie search (TMDB)
To fill in the movie and its poster, the app talks directly to The Movie Database (TMDB), a third-party service. This happens at three moments:
- When you search for a movie: the text you typed and the app's language are sent.
- When you pick a movie: its poster is downloaded and saved on the device, so it works with no signal inside the theater.
- When you receive a transferred ticket: the movie's TMDB identifier is sent, to download the poster again.
Nothing that identifies you goes along: no name, no account, no location, none of your ticket data. As with any internet request, TMDB sees the IP address it came from; how it handles that is covered by TMDB's privacy policy.
Without internet, the search simply doesn't happen: you type the title yourself and the app draws a poster on the device.
Transferring a ticket
When you transfer a seat to a companion, the app builds a link (or a QR code) that carries the ticket itself: the QR content, the movie, the date and time, the cinema, the room, the seat and, if you fill it in, your name, so the recipient knows who sent it.
- With the QR code, the other person points their camera at your screen and nothing goes over the internet.
- With the link, you choose which app to send it through (WhatsApp, Messages, etc.). The message follows the rules of the app you chose; it never goes through a server of ours.
Whoever receives the link holds the ticket, just as they would with the paper one. Only send it to the person who will use the seat.
Camera
The camera is used only to read the QR code on the paper ticket, or on a transfer, in real time.
The app doesn't take photos, store images or send images. Of everything the camera sees, only the QR content leaves the screen, and it stays on the device. If you'd rather not allow the camera, you can type the ticket code by hand.
What the app doesn't do
- No login, no account
- Doesn't send your data to Folium Studios
- No ads, no third-party analytics SDK
- Doesn't access your location, contacts, photos, files or microphone
- Doesn't sell data, or share it with third parties for their own purposes
Children
The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Your rights
Since nothing is sent to us, Folium Studios holds no data about you: there is nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. Everything is on your device and under your control: deleting a stub in the app erases it, and uninstalling the app erases them all.
Tickets you transferred are also on the recipient's device, and only that person can delete them.
